Kelly rescued Charlie when he was just a 12-week-old puppy, found abandoned in a shopping cart. When Kelly was to get married to James Garvin, a fellow veterinarian, it was one of Charlie’s last acts to be there for her.
He was diagnosed with a brain tumor prior to the wedding, and many thought that he wouldn’t make it in time to see her get married.
