Since running a farm is very expensive, Lanigan would bring cows to the butcher to pay the bills. That was always his least favorite part, but he says that as a farmer, you get used to it and can kind of turn off that part.
One day, when he was helping feed a calf, he realized that it was hypocritical of him to raise these calves into cows and give them so much love, only to end up taking them to the butcher, which shows them anything but love.
