MacKenzie Witbracht was very worried that when her dog, Malice, saw her, she wouldn’t remember who she was., She even thought Malice might be mad at her for being away so long. Why all the worry? Two years ago, Malice was taken from Witbracht by animal control because she was believed to be dangerous. Witbracht had been fighting for her ever since. Malice was named after band, but that didn’t stop her name from being a factor in her imprisonment. Court records show that Malice was taken by animal control after someone reported her to be dangerous based on a post that Witbracht made. It suggested that Malice had attacked other pets in her home, but Witbracht suffers from PTSD and does not recall making the post. So Malice was taken away to stay in a kennel at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa until her fate could be decided. At the end of last month, a judge finally decided there wasn’t enough evidence to hold the dog, and she was allowed her first visit in twenty-two months. Witbracht and her two daughters had missed Malice desperately, but weren’t even allowed to see a picture of her. When the big day came, Malice came through the door and immediately got excited. She kissed her owner’s face and wagged her tail so hard, her whole rear end moved. Malice had developed arthritis, and grayed some, but was still the same dog. Apollo is staring at his plate now like he just missed the bus. He looks so hopeless! “This plate gives me every reason to be sad. It is empty. This has to have food on it. How has my life come to this?!” I could feel the pain. The German Shepherd be looking at his human now like: “Do I always have to make it obvious that I’m hungry before you feed me?” But, it turns out Apollo just ate his meal. But, is it his fault he wants another serving? I don’t think so. It’s his tummy’s fault! “Are you just gonna stare at me forever?” The pooch then goes to the pantry and tells his dad exactly what he wants. Yup, he is straightforward. “This, buddy. This is what I want. Why you gotta be so selfish today?” “I already led you to where my heart is. You know what to do now. You gotta do what you gotta do.” I bet Apollo wins this argument. Thorin is one burly German Shepherd who has such a big and gentle heart that cares for others. He is actually watching over a group of super tiny baby quails right now! He be like: “I’m guessing you are the ones I’m going to be babysitting today. Wow. You little critters are so cute!” He’s basically going to be their dad for the mean time. I love the fact that Thorin sits down with so much caution. He doesn’t want to hurt any of these babies! Now, the quails are flocking towards him. They want to get to know who this big guy is! “Let me know if you need anything, okay?” “Mom’s gonna be home in a while. I hope none of you poops before she arrives. I HAAATE cleaning up poops. Squirt is one frisky kitten she can get a bit annoying sometimes. She lives with a Dalmatian couple named Lady and Louie, and these two are her favorite targets each time she wants to play. Thank goodness this is an impressively patient pair of pooches we are talking about! This feline gets along so well with the dogs. She probably thinks she’s one of them. Their size doesn’t threaten her. Not one bit. Squirt was actually once fostered by the family who owns Louie and Lady. But, because the adorable kitten has grown so close to the dogs, they eventually decided to just adopt the baby kitty. Squirt couldn’t be happier, of course! At times when she can get so loud, the Dalmatians just pay her no mind. They know they can never compete with her over-the-top-energy. And, when one dog already gives her the cold shoulder, Squirt knows that the best thing to do next is transfer to the other pooch and antagonize that poor creature instead. Ha! Squirt is just unstoppable! This kitten is definitely on happy pills 24/7! At the end of the day, though, they find themselves craving for each other’s company. They are family for life!
