It is unknown how exactly Maverick, the pit bull, acquired these horrific injuries. Since he is of the pit bull breed, many believe that dog-fighting is a likely possibility, or he could have been attacked on the street.
Amanda Dowell, program director for the Texas-based nonprofit, Long Way Home Pit Bull Rescue, believes that in whatever manner it happened, that he’s been living with those injuries for a long time.
