About a year ago Jessica Pittman was driving in her hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi when she was an elderly couple standing on the side of the road next to their SUV. They were selling kindling wood. Jessica pulled over and started to talk with the couple.
Turns out that Kenneth Wood, 80, and Helen, his wife, were trying to sell the wood to pay for Helen’s medical expenses; she had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
