All of us have involuntary reactions to outside stimuli, whether understandable or not. Most of us understand that the sound of water can send us looking for a bathroom, or that nails on a chalkboard has the ability to make some of us go crazy. These kinds of reactions that we cannot control are called “reflexesâ€.
A reflex is an involuntary response to a stimulus, such as pulling back your hand away from a hot surface, before you even become aware of the heat. Most reflexes are processed in the spine, although some, like blinking, are processed in the brain.
Most reflexes, as you can see, serve a purpose. They’re evolutionary responses to our survival; babies have sucking and rooting reflexes even before they’re born. But, this adorable tabby cat named Ginger, has a hilarious reflex to packing tape, and it is just plain bizarre!
