Lucy, the golden retriever, bonded closely with Joe Getz. When he took a job that required a lot of travel, it was very hard on Lucy. As soon as she saw his suitcase come out, she would begin crying. When he was gone, she wouldn’t want to get up for her bed at all. Her depression got so severe that the veterinarian recommended putting her on antidepressants.
Joe, and his wife Lindsey, didn’t want to put Lucy on the medicine because she was already on thyroid medicine.
