Poachers have a pretty bad rap, and for good reason. Nandi, a white rhino was orphaned at just two months old when her mother was shot and killed by poachers. Amazingly, Nandi survived by herself for days before she was found and taken to The Rhino Orphanage in South Africa. Lucy, the golden retriever, bonded closely with Joe Getz. When he took a job that required a lot of travel, it was very hard on Lucy. As soon as she saw his suitcase come out, she would begin crying. When he was gone, she wouldn’t want to get up for her bed at all. Her depression got so severe that the veterinarian recommended putting her on antidepressants. We have also heard of squirrels, opossums, raccoons, and chipmunks finding their way into Christmas trees, but I’d bet this is one you haven’t heard. In Australia, a woman named Cheryl was gazing at her beautifully decorated Christmas tree when she noticed a new ornament lounging on the branches. Upon inspection, Cheryl realized the new ornament was actually a tiger snake which just happens to be one of the top ten deadliest snakes in the world. People can cause us to lose all faith in humanity. In Reggie and Sylvester’s case, it is surprising that they didn’t also lose faith. The pair were kept in a Brooklyn apartment full of garbage, broken furniture, bicycle parts, feces, and urine. The place smelled so extreme that Stacey Silverstein, the cofounder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, said “you needed a gas mask to go in there-it was so awful.â€
Anna Soffer and Darcy Ripley have a monster of a black cat named Rooster. When Rooster was a tiny kitten, he was the subject of a “take him home or we’ll take him to a shelter†ad that Ripley saw, so he headed right over and picked Rooster up.
