Life has a tendency to take a turn for the worse at the most unexpected of times. The same can be said for Turia Pitt, an Australian mining engineer. A marathon enthusiast, Turia, back in 2011, took part in the Kimberley Ultramarathon. During her run, she encountered a bushfire, common in Australian summers.
She ignored it but it subsequently got out of hand. Unfortunately, she was caught in the flames and took severe damage, with burns covering two-thirds of her body. She admittedly lost the ability to be cheerful again. But difficulties are nothing when you have support, which for Turia was her partner and boyfriend, Michael, who was with her every step of the way.
