One person’s determination can completely change a life. Harper the golden retriever was living in fear on an illegal dog meat farm in South Korea. She’d been born there with many other pups, all whom were in need of rescuing. When the Humane Society International found and shut down the farm, a picture of Harper went online. As soon as Reddit user daisyintheair saw the photograph, she knew she simply had to have Harper, and she was willing to do anything to adopt her and take her home. It wasn’t easy to track her down, and daisyintheair had no idea which shelter in the U.S. she’d been sent to. But finally, success! She located the pup and took her home. Harper was easily frightened and nervous at first, but with some tender loving care, she grew to become the playful, friendly pup she’s always been inside. She was showered with attention and love everywhere she went, even when she didn’t necessarily want it! The kindness shown towards her helped her to relax and learn to be happy. She’s even been managing her fear of water with a cute yellow raincoat! Since adopting her, daisyintheair has shared tons of pictures of Harper’s improvement with the world. You can see she’s a fun-loving pup with a fantastic smile! With perseverance, Harper’s life was changed for the better and she found a forever loving home. When Mitch Boyer’s sister’s dog had a litter of adorable dachshund pups, he immediately fell in love with one of them. He took her home, adopted her, and named her Vivian. It wasn’t difficult for him to see that Vivian’s personality was far too big for her little body, so he came up with an adorable idea. Boyer began taking photographs with Vivian and photoshopping them so that Vivian became her “true size” – that is, the giant, towering mass of her personality! Often, Vivian is so tall she can overshadow buildings and take up an entire street! Here are some of her adventures! 1. Time outs don’t work for pups who can look over fences! 2. Well it’s okay, I didn’t need a place to sit anyway. 3. Now the whole street can see how awesome I am! 4. New York was not prepared for my cuteness. 5. It’s easy to cross a street when you’re bigger than the cars! 6. If I sit down, I’m tall enough for daddy to take an easy selfie with me! This dynamic duo has since traveled all over the US, through four states and five cities, and have lived in 10 different houses! Right now, they’ve settled in Brooklyn, where Vivian continues to show off her size. She certainly thinks she’s as big as the city itself! Vivian’s spunky personality has inspired Boyer to begin progress on a children’s book, “Vivian the Dog Moves to Brooklyn.” I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait till Vivan’s book hits the shelves! Losing a pet is a difficult experience. As the mom or dad to a pet, you spend endless time, effort, and love on them to give them the best life they can live. Eventually, it has to come to an end, but the sadness can never outweigh the beautiful, heartfelt memories you share. Sure, they may drive you up the wall and make you roll your eyes, but they fill your days with happiness, love, and laughter. Mikie and his best buddy were destined to be inseparable from the first day they met to the last day they could be together. 4. A lot can change in 16 years, but the love has only gotten stronger. 5. He learned to read with his pup Docker, and 14 years later, they could still read together. 6. A joyful meeting, and a solemn farewell. 7. In 16 years, this adorable little puppy grew into a strong, handsome dog. 8. The excited first night, and the sorrowful final night. 9. From chewing on toys the same size as him, to resting on the couch like an old retired gramps! 10. It’s amazing how much one pup can grow. 11. Indie the kitty was blind, deaf, and had seizures, but lived a happy life thanks to her family! 12. Cats grow from being so tiny you can hold them in one hand, to being big enough to take on a tree!
