On July 12, 2008, Jaquie Goncher was paralyzed from the neck down, from a swimming accident. She went to a friend’s house after work, dove into her pool, and ended up breaking her neck. From then on, she was paralyzed. The vertebrae in the neck, C1 and C2, were fractured, while C5 was completely shattered. After surgery, the surgeon told her and her mother she would never walk again, but a month after, she flicked her toe for the first time.
