Beefcakes has come a long way from when he first arrived at the Longmont Humane Society with a gunshot wound to his head. His badly broken jaw had to have multiple surgeries. A caregiver kept a journal for Beefcakes and logged all his surgeries. After they were all done, the journal started to read a little different and began to show the spirit of an unbreakable heart. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL-Iowa) got together with a local shelter and donated a Tree of Life. The Tree of Life program brings pet supplies, food, and toys into shelters to help the animals placed within it. They placed tons of supplies underneath a gigantic Christmas tree at the shelter. Santa is a Christmas staple and something that kids look forward to every year. Lines form at every Santa station with parents and their little ones waiting patiently, or impatiently, to have a chance to sit on the big guy’s lap and tell him all of their wishes. Albert the super cow was born in a hard spot. At just one day old, he was being sold at auction in New York state for his meat. He was sick and thin, he was mooing for his mother, and he kept falling. Dogs and their humans form unbreakable bonds and Alice McIntyre and her small dog Hugo had such a bond. They spent all of their time together until McIntyre had to leave home for five months to live in Europe. She had never been away from Hugo for that long before, having only been gone for about a week at a time, and they missed each other terribly. Christmas isn’t quite merry for a rescue cat named Lily. Do you know why? She doesn’t know how to go down the Christmas tree after bravely climbing it. “I badly need help. Get me outta here!” she cries. “Are you just gonna stand there and laugh at me? You can help, too, if you want. Ugh!” Regret is written all over Lily’s face. “I thought climbing this tree would be so much fun!” “God, please take me out of this miserable situation. Please save me!
